Had a bad day today what with the weather among other things but what did cheer me up was hearing about Mourinho searching for bargain basement players the latest being Benni McCarthy from Blackburn.
OK he was good when he played for the Special One at Porto but he has been around the block a bit since! Add that to Tal Haim, a free transfer from Bolton.....What is going on at Chelsea?
Another to join the special one at Chelsea is Steve Sidwell who joined from Reading. Now I've long been a fan of Sidwell, him being a major factor in Reading's great debut season. But I can't help but wonder if it is the right move for him- Just ask Scott Parker who now finds himself at lowly West Ham having signed for Chelsea in a blaze of glory, not getting many games, moving to Newcastle and getting even less!
Maybe Steve Sidwell would've been better off speaking to the likes of Scott Parker first and even Sean Wright-Phillips(who is that you may ask!). Seems like Chelsea is fast becoming the graveyard of English International players! Speaking of internationals i was lucky(or unlucky)enough to watch England U21's beat Serbia U21's last night and progress to a meeting with the Dutch in the semis on Wednesday(no penalties please!).
I say unlucky because of three things; the racist chanting coming from the Serbian Fans, the actions of the Serbian players when England scored their second goal and the silly sending off of substitute Huddlestone before he had even touched the ball! The racism speaks for itself and i shall not glorify it by talking about it!!
The sending off of Huddle stone for swearing...Was that offense any worse than the violent actions of the Serbian players after Derbyshire scored England's second goal? I think not, I'm more inclined to think that the referee, after a pretty good performance from himself, had had enough and thought he needed to regain control of the match. Poor, poor judgment. Apart from all that, not a lot happening today but we have got until August 31st until we can get off the transfer merry go round- see you soon!
